Damascus, SANA- Finance Minister Mohammed Yasar Barnieh discussed with a Turkish delegation headed by Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat mechanisms to strengthen and develop relations between Syria and Turkey, and advance them in various fields, particularly in the financial, banking, and economic sectors, to the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
During the meeting, Minister Barnieh praised Turkey’s supportive stances toward Syria and its people during the years of the revolution.
He emphasized the importance of the Turkish delegation’s visit during the first weeks of the new Syrian government’s term, as it reflects a genuine interest in supporting Syria and contributing to its reconstruction, building its institutions, and achieving development.
The minister pointed out the Syrian government’s keenness to encourage investment in Syria by working to create an attractive investment environment, developing and issuing relevant legislation, providing extensive facilitation, and providing a qualified financial and banking infrastructure.
Minister Barnieh stressed the importance of supporting the private sector as a partner in economic development, in parallel with government work, and benefiting from the Turkish experience in this field.
He noted the government’s commitment to doing everything possible to improve the Syrian economic situation, citizens’ standard of living, and enhance Syria’s regional and global position.
For his part, Minister Bolat highlighted the depth and strength of the long-standing relations between the Syrian and Turkish peoples, especially since the two countries together form a geographical bridge between East and West.
He noted the victory achieved by the Syrians after 14 difficult years that led to the birth of a new Syria on December 8.
Minister Bolat affirmed his country’s support for building a strong economy in Syria and contributing to its reconstruction, improving agriculture and industry, and developing its infrastructure to benefit the people of both countries.
