Damascus, SANA – With the participation of 142 companies from Syria, Arab, and foreign countries, the 23rd edition of the Agritex International Exhibition for Agricultural and Veterinary Supplies kicked off on Thursday at the Damascus Fairgrounds.
Minister of Agriculture Dr. Amjad Badr toured the exhibition pavilions and viewed the companies’ displays of advanced supplies in veterinary medicine, feed, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, modern irrigation technologies, and other equipment that meet the needs of farmers and veterinarians.
In a statement to reporters, Minister Badr emphasized the importance of these economic events in supporting the agricultural sector and enhancing food security, stressing the need to use guidance methods to inform farmers about the benefits and risks of certain products and the optimal method of using them.
He pointed out that the international participation reflects the openness of the Syrian market and its gradual recovery, in addition to its contribution to the exchange of expertise and improving the quality of local products, considering the exhibition to be a platform for introducing companies and products according to the required quality standards and specifications.
The exhibition was organized by al-Atassi Company for Organizing Exhibitions, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture, and the Veterinarians Syndicate.
As the company’s director, Ghazi Atassi noted that this session is the largest in terms of the number of participating foreign companies, which constituted more than 12% of the total exhibitors, reflecting the recovery of the agricultural sector and the interest of international companies in investing in the Syrian market.
