Damascus, SANA-Investment activity in the Adra Industrial City in the Damascus countryside has witnessed remarkable growth in recent months following the liberation, with increasing demand for new facilities in various sectors.
The number of operating industrial facilities in Adra Industrial City has reached 780, with hopes of doubling this number amid the facilitations granted to investors. This comes in light of the issuance of the new investment system in industrial cities, the existence of thousands of decisions to establish new facilities, and efforts to expand the city, given its attractive environment for investors from both inside and outside Syria.
Director General of Adra Industrial City, Engineer Samer Al-Samael, said in a statement to a SANA reporter that expansion work has begun in the city’s seventh sector, with an estimated area of 735 hectares, most of which has been subscribed, with the aim of meeting the investment requirements for the next phase.
He pointed out that the investment system in industrial cities provides a significant opportunity to increase investment, with areas approximately 35 percent of the current operational area in Adra Industrial City.
The Director General stressed the importance of Adra Industrial City as a promising investment center in Syria, given its advanced infrastructure, 24-hour electricity availability, and spacious areas that allow investors to establish their projects efficiently and smoothly. It also provides an investment environment that meets investors’ aspirations and encourages them to take advantage of the opportunities available under this new system.
For his part, Engineer Asem Seria, Director of Industry in the city, said that the city extends over an area of 7,000 hectares and includes four main sectors: engineering industries, textile industries, food industries, and chemical industries.
He explained that the number of operating facilities in the industrial city as of June 25th had reached approximately 780. The number of decisions to establish industrial facilities had reached 5,700.
Seria noted that the number of licensed facilities in the city has reached 50 diverse facilities since the liberation, with numerous requests from industrialists in neighboring countries to relocate their facilities to the city.
