Ankara, SANA- President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), Rifat Hisarciklioglu, reaffirmed Friday the Union’s support for Syria to revive its economy again.
Following President Ahmad Al-Sharaa reception of the delegation of the Federation of Turkish Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges at the People’s Palace in Damascus yesterday, the union affirmed in a statement issued today, and reported by Anadolu Agency, that the delegation’s discussions in Damascus dealt with developing trade relations with Syria and discussing rebuilding its industrial and commercial infrastructure.
Hasarjiklioglu said: “We discussed opportunities for trade cooperation between the two countries”, adding:” I believe that trade and economic relations will develop quickly, and Turkey will in turn meets the requirements of neighborly and fraternal relations”.
The President of the Turkish union expressed satisfaction with the process of returning life and the situation in Syria to normal.
He said: “We are here to help the Syrian economy recover and we discussed ways to support Syria’s reconstruction, activate the private sector and entrepreneurship, and increase the volume of trade between our two countries.”
The statement pointed out “the possibility of Turkish companies playing an important role in many sectors, including infrastructure, construction, energy, food and logistics”.
Hasarjiklioglu stressed the Union’s readiness to contribute in every way to building Syria’s future, explaining that the Turkish business world is able to share its experiences, especially in the field of modernizing industrial zones and border crossings.
He pointed out that there are more than 400 industrial zones throughout Turkey, saying: “Companies located in these zones represent 45 percent of total industrial production, and provide job opportunities for about 2,7 million people”.
