Damascus countryside, SANA – Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar, and Saudi Minister of Investment, Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, launched Wednesday the “Fayhaa” Cement Factory project in the Adra Industrial City at Damascus countryside as the first project to manufacture white cement in Syria.

The Saudi Minister of Investment stressed that the investment environment in Syria is encouraging and depends largely on the role of the private sector in the reconstruction process and market expansion, benefiting from Syria’s natural resources and distinctive geographical location as a gateway between the Arabian Peninsula and the Mediterranean Basin.

CEO of the Northern Region Cement Group, Dr. Obaid Subaie, stated that the launch of Syria’s first white cement plant is a true achievement on the ground, and the project’s investment value has reached $20 million, providing 130 direct job opportunities and more than 1,000 indirect job opportunities .

The project comes within the framework of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s support for the industrial sector in Syria, especially the cement sector, with the aim of expanding the local production base and reducing foreign imports, in a way that supports the upcoming reconstruction phase in the country.
