Damascus, SANA- Minister of Culture, Mohammad Yassin Saleh, and Damascus Governor, Maher Marwan, inaugurated the 2025 Summer Club Festival Monday evening as part of the “Damascus Prepares” campaign.
The initiative reflects the Governorate’s commitment to promote athletic and cultural activities and creating a stimulating environment that nurtures the potential of children, adolescents, and young people.
The festival featured an exhibition of artistic paintings and models representing various Syrian governorates, along with a series of athletic performances, including karate, taekwondo, calisthenics, cycling, archery, and inclusive sports demonstrations such as football and basketball for persons with disabilities.
In his opening speech, the Governor of Damascus emphasized that “Damascus Prepares” is more than a sports initiative; it is a comprehensive civic project encompassing athletics, culture, and social development.
For his part, the Minister of Culture stated that Syria’s cultural and civilizational identity would be repositioned to reflect the dignity and resilience of its people. He underscored the Ministry’s dedication to being present across all public institutions and facilities, pointing out that the essence of cultural engagement in such events lies in empowering individuals to contribute to the country’s development and revival.
The opening ceremony was attended by Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Acting Head of Qatar’s Embassy in Damascus, as well as a number of relevant directors and youth organizations.
