London, SANA- The United Kingdom announced Thursday the lifting of sanctions on 12 Syrian entities, including the Ministries of Defense and Interior, as well as several Syrian media outlets.
The UK Treasury stated in a press release published Thursday on the government’s official website that 12 Syrian entities are no longer on the sanctions list previously established. These sanctions included freezing the funds and economic resources of individuals and entities involved in suppressing civilians, supporting the Syrian regime, or benefiting from it.
The entities no longer subject to asset freezes, as stated in the UK Treasury ‘s announcement, include the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, General Intelligence Directorate, Air Force Intelligence Agency, Political Security Directorate, Syrian National Security Bureau, Military Intelligence Directorate, Army Supply Bureau, General Organization of Radio and TV, Al-Watan Newspaper, Cham Press Channel, and Sama TV.
On March 6th, the British government announced the removal of 24 Syrian entities, including the Central Bank, from the list of sanctions subject to asset freezes.
