Occupied Jerusalem, SANA- Twenty Palestinians were martyred and dozens were injured Wednesday as a truck carrying aid overturned and crashed into a crowd of people in the central Strip.
“The accident occurred as a large number of starving civilians were gathering in an attempt to obtain humanitarian aid, amid the humanitarian catastrophe facing the Strip due to ongoing Israeli blockade and aggression”, WAFA quoted local sources as saying.
Palestinian Health Ministry announced Tuesday that over the 24 past hours, 52 Palestinians were martyred and 352 injured while attempting to obtain aid, bringing the total number of people martyred to 1,568 and more than 11,230 injured.
On last May 27th, Israel began implementing a distributing plan of limited aid through what is known as Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) under inhumane conditions, as Israeli occupation forces Palestinians to collect boxes containing food and basic hygiene supplies from four sites in southern and central Gaza.
Tens of thousands of starving citizens of Gaza are gathered at distribution sites and forced to choose between starvation due to the famine or being shot by Israeli army.
It is noteworthy that UN and a number of relief organizations stressed that the foundation plans contravene humanitarian principles and they refused to cooperate with it, calling on Israel to reopen the crossings and allow humanitarian aid to enter.
