Moscow, SANA-The Geophysical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences has issued a warning regarding a massive and hazardous ash plume rising from Klyuchevskoy Volcano on Kamchatka Peninsula, noting that the eruption is expected to intensify over the next three days.
In an official statement, the institute reported that the ash column has reached an altitude of 11.5 Km above sea level, prompting authorities to raise the aviation alert level to the highest category—Red Alert.
According to the statement, the ash plume is drifting northeast toward the Bering Sea, passing over the cities of Ust-Kamchatsk and Krutoberegovo. Aviation authorities have issued warnings about the potential impact of volcanic ash on aircraft operations in the region.
