British F-35 fighter makes an emergency landing in Japan

Tokyo, SANA-A British F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing at Kagoshima Airport in southwestern Japan due to a technical malfunction, according to Japan’s Kyodo News Agency.

The agency quoted airport authorities as saying: “Some commercial flights were affected after a runway was closed for about 20 minutes following the incident this morning, with no reports of injuries.”

British forces have been conducting joint training with the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces and US forces since August 4 and will continue until Monday, after dispatching an aircraft carrier strike group to the western Pacific.
