Occupied Jerusalem, SANA-The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, affirmed that the Israeli army continues to silence voices reporting its violations against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

“Israel has been preventing international journalists from covering events independently since the start of the war in Gaza nearly two years ago,” Lazzarini told the Palestinian news agency WAFA, expressing his shock after Israel killed six journalists by bombing their tent near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City on Sunday.

Lazzarini stressed the need for international media to enter Gaza “to support the heroic work of their Palestinian colleagues,” as the only way to counter media misinformation about the extent of Israeli atrocities.

The number of Palestinian journalists killed since the beginning of the genocidal war perpetrated by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, has risen to 238.
