New York, SANA- United Nations condemned killing six Palestinian journalists as Israeli aircraft shelled a journalists’ tent near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, calling for an impartial investigation in the crime.
“Journalists working for al-Jazeera Channel in Gaza have been omce again victims of the conflict which shows the risks the journalists face”, UN news website quoted UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, as saying in a press conference.
United Nations Human Rights Office condemned Israeli crime in a statement posted on X platform “killing the journalists by Israeli army through targeting their tent is a grave violation of international humanitarian law”, adding “At least 242 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 7th, 2023.
Commissioner-General of UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said that “Israeli army continues targeting the journalists conveying the atrocities committed in Gaza.”
Lazarini noted that Israel also prevents international journalists from accessing Gaza to cover events independently, stressing the need to protect journalists’ rights.
