Egypt superstar Mohamed Salah is “almost 100 per cent” certain to play in Friday’s World Cup opener against Uruguay, says boss Hector Cuper.
Salah, 25, has been in a race against time to be passed fit after he injured shoulder ligaments in a controversial early collision with Sergio Ramos during Liverpool’s Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid on May 26.
The forward missed all three of Egypt’s warm-up friendlies.
“I can almost assure you 100 per cent he will play, save unforeseen circumstances at the very last minute,” said Cuper.
The match at Ekaterinburg Arena in Group A will be Egypt’s first at a World Cup finals in 28 years.
