The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to climb the Eastern Conference standings, but if they want to make a real push in the playoffs, Donovan Mitchell is going to have to be playing his best basketball.

I’m betting we get a glimpse of that as Cleveland visits the banged-up Golden State Warriors. My Cavaliers vs. Warriors predictions are highlighted by a Mitchell player prop.

Those and more NBA picks for this matchup set to tip off at the Chase Center in San Francisco at 10 pm ET, on Thursday, April 2.

Cavaliers vs Warriors predictionCavaliers vs Warriors best bet: Donovan Mitchell Over 23.5 points (-120)

We’ve gotten some inconsistent results from Donovan Mitchell lately. The Cleveland Cavaliers star guard will put up 40 points one night and 10 the next.

But this matchup against the Golden State Warriors will be just what he needs to find the best version of himself.

The Warriors' injury report is the stuff of nightmares. Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody, and Al Horford are all out. While it feels like the rest of the roster, including Kristaps Porzingis, are all day-to-day with some ailment or another.

It’s no surprise that the Dubs defense has taken a step back. Golden State ranks 22nd in defensive rating since the All-Star break, with opposing guards being a particular problem.

Guards are putting up the seventh-most points per game on the Warriors since the break, which includes allowing the eighth-most made threes per game, ranking 20th in 3-point shooting percentage.

All that to say, Mitchell should have some room to work in this game.

Despite the inconsistent results, Mitchell has still gone Over this points number eight times in 12 games this month. And if anything, a couple of out-of-characteristically poor outings is just getting us a better number for this matchup against a struggling Warriors team.

Cavaliers vs Warriors same-game parlay

All these injuries have hurt the Warriors in a lot of ways, including on the boards. It’s basically just Kristaps Porzingis and Draymond Green cleaning the glass. Golden State now ranks 22nd in rebounding rate since the All-Star break.

That has me targeting rebounding totals for both Green and Cleveland’s Evan Mobley. The Cavs’ big man is averaging 8.9 rebounds per game and has topped this number 12 times in his last 16 games.

For Green, it’s more of a last-man-standing situation.
