The San Antonio Spurs have won an NBA-best 10 straight games, and they’ll look to make it 11 when they travel to Intuit Dome to face the Los Angeles Clippers on the second leg of a back-to-back set.
Victor Wembanyama’s play has been truly out of this world, and my Spurs vs. Clippers predictions expect him to stuff the stat sheet again tonight.
Here are my best free NBA picks for this Western Conference showdown on Thursday, April 2.
Victor Wembanyama has made it clear that he wants to win MVP, and his recent play certainly backs that up.
He’s posted back-to-back 41-point double-doubles heading into Thursday’s showdown with the Los Angeles Clippers, and Wemby has averaged 30 points, 15.8 rebounds, and four dimes across his last five contests, going for 40+ four times.
Wemby hasn’t just been great in that short span. His stellar play has been taken up a notch since March 1.
Over his last 16 games, the French phenom has averaged 27.7 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, good for 43.5 PRA. He’s gone for 40+ nine times in that span.
On the season, Wembanyama has cleared the Over on this combo line 29 times, including 16 of 31 contests on the road. He’s got a favorable matchup against a Clippers team lacking depth in the frontcourt.
With Isaiah Jackson and Yanic Konan Niederhauser shut down, Brook Lopez will be the lone true center, with John Collins providing support as needed.
Over the last 10 games, the Clippers have surrendered the 12th-most points, 14th-most rebounds, eighth-most offensive rebounds, seventh-most second-chance points, and seventh-highest 3-point percentage.
Wemby is on a monstrous tear, and tonight’s matchup is not scary. With six games left on the schedule and his San Antonio Spurs sitting only two games back of the first-place Thunder, I expect Wembanyama to have another tremendous showing.
Both offenses have been humming, and in a marquee game with playoff implications, I expect strong scoring all around.
The Clippers are well-rested and hungry to earn a win against the Spurs, while San Antonio is rattling off wins and closing in on the No. 1 seed. The Over has hit in three of the last four head-to-head matchups.
I’m fine betting the Spurs to cover here, but the Clippers have covered in each of the last two, and I prefer to bet San Antonio to win this one outright instead. The Spurs are playing great basketball thanks to Wembanyama and a strong supporting cast.

Wembanyama’s stat lines have never been seen before, making them truly extraterrestrial. As the Spurs eye the top spot in the West, and Wemby eyes the MVP, I expect him to continue doing what he does best — a bit of everything.
He’s scored 26+ points in nine of his last 14 games while averaging 29.1 points. In that same span, he’s grabbed 12+ rebounds nine times, including five straight.
Wemby has dished 3+ assists in six straight and seven of his last eight. He’s recorded 4+ swats eight times in his last 14 appearances, while blocking three shots twice more. He’s also recorded at least one steal 10 times and multiple steals five times.
