The ongoing right heel pain that caused Toronto Raptors forward Brandon Ingram to exit a pivotal Game 5 early and sit out Games 6 and 7 of a first-round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers wound up requiring surgery.

Ingram had an operation to removed aa heel spur, the Raptors announced Friday. The two-time All-Star is expected to be ready for training camp in September, per the team’s release.

When Ingram left the court in Game 5 against the Cavs, the series was tied 2-2. Cleveland won that game and eventually closed things out in Game 7 to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Ingram averaged 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists this season, his first action with the Raptors after they traded for him during the 2024-25 campaign. He got the nod for this year’s All-Star Game as a replacement, taking the spot of an injured Stephen Curry.
